[Pre-180, My adventures at 16, Be a Food Blogger] Charlie Brown Cafe @ Somerset 313

One of the things I did as part of 'My adventures at 16' was actually finding the cutest themed restaurants/cafes within Singapore. Themed cafes was still a new thing back then (that was in year 2013-2014) and it's hard to find cafes with cartoon mascots and ample photograph spots. Repeatedly scrolling through my Google search results, I was rewarded when I chanced upon Charlie Brown Cafe. 

Located at its then location in Somerset 313, the small cozy cafe had a warm vibe, and one could see a Charlie Brown mascot standing right at the shopfront with a sign saying "There's no service charge at my cafe!"--What a nice thing to say! :D

This was followed by a Snoopy mascot! :D I'm pretty sure that it would be 100% cuter if the mascot had a sign saying that there was no GST in the cafe alike Charlie Brown! :) 

After taking numerous photographs with the mascots, I tried out two items from the menu, namely the crepes (with honey butter) and the latte. Couldn't remember exactly how much the items cost me but I'm pretty sure they cost around SGD$13 in total. On par if not slightly pricier than the other cafes, but I suppose it's pretty reasonable factoring in the decor and the aesthetics appeal of the food. 

The food tasted pretty normal. Placed on a small plate, the crepe was soft but small in terms of its portion, and the latte tasted like what one would get from any other cafes. I was expecting a more exciting foodie experience, but it turned out that everything tasted boring, and the presentation of the dishes was the only good thing about the food. For the price and taste, it would be better if the portion of crepes could be just slightly bigger. A little bit of a disappointment here...I would've loved the place much more if there was more emphasis on the cafe items. It seemed to me that the Charlie Brown and Snoopy mascots were the only selling points of the cafe. I would, however, like to pop by Charlie Brown cafe again in its new locations to try out some of its menu items, as my Charlie Brown experience years ago might have been outdated already. I hope that I'll get to try something tasty and exciting in my next visit. :D
