#5 [Be a Comic Lover] Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2015
Not sure if I mentioned this before in the blog, but I used to be a member of my school, SJI, Japanese Club's member. And during my time in the club, my club mates were always talking about Anime. A lot in fact. Despite having watched Shokugeki No Soma (Food Wars) and Vampire Knights, and reading a tonne of Doraemon comics (I've completed the entire comic series, from book 1-45 :) ), I realised that I had little idea of the vibrancy of the anime and anime cosplaying culture. As such, I made sure that I visit the 2015 Anime Festival Asia (AFA) Singapore (at Suntec City) in December (as part of the 180 things I want to do at 18)!
I went to the festival along with my best friend Iswarya, who, let alone reading comics, had total zero knowledge of the anime culture. Oh well, I dragged her along with me. After paying SGD$13 for the admission (one-day, exhibition-only), we went around exploring the booths.
But before we even get to the entrance of the AFA convention hall, we realised that we were surrounded with cosplayers dressed as different characters from different animes. Seems as if 'Animes came Alive'. I was very lucky to spot cosplayers dressed as characters from Shokugeki No Soma, and as an avid blogger, I asked for a photograph to be taken. :)
There was also a central small concert area where famous cosplayers have a meet-and-greet session with anime fans. :) And amidst the convention, I decided to grab some food. And, and, and...I saw this...Monster Curry fighting with Ultra man!
I got a curry rice for myself :) Or to be specific, Curry Chicken Karage with Radish and Wasabi Mayonaise.
There was also a shop selling ice-cream and parfait from the anime LoveLive, but I didn't get to try it as one simple parfait costs around $10.
After curry rice, we decided to explore the booths more, and I got to even buy one one-piece clear file :)
There was also an Animax booth where we could draw an anime character on a random postcards. I drew an Anpanman! Looks like it right? :D
And there was another NHK booth where, in return for filling up a simple NHK survey, a comic artist will draw a caricature of us!
Does this look like me? High V! :D
There are some other cosplayers as well! I could see the amount of details taken to make the clothings.
Before leaving the convention, we saw even more cosplayers. Here are some of the photographs below!
Personally I like the photograph of the anime-cum-movie characters below (in school uniform), pardon that I forgot the name of the anime.
And I spot Ash from Pokemon! :) Pretty interesting!
[Conclusion] Great eye-opener. I didn't know that the anime culture is so vibrant and so diverse, and its so exciting to see so many cosplayers all at one go! :)
