#7 [Learning about Arts] Visiting an Arts exhibition--Artist Kevin Tan's Exhibition

As I have not been finding out about the Arts, I thought that I should go out to learn more about Arts before I start school in August'16. And I was extremely interested when I chanced upon Singaporean artist Kevin Tan's art exhibition, "Singapore: Our Garden of Eden" at The Art Space @ Suntec City. :D

Artist Kevin Tan's a contemporary artist who enjoys drawing Singapore's landscape. His more fascinating pieces are often a mix of digital art and oil painting--where he paints on photographs. Quoting from Art Channel Gallery, "Kevin chooses the best qualities of each media while exploring the relationship between the creative process and the picture that emerges."

But more importantly, "Since 2014, Kevin's works have been showcased in several group exhibitions including "A Changed World Exhibition" by the National Museum of Singapore, "Brilliant Scenic Art Exhibition", 65th Anniversary Exhibition by the Singapore Art Society, "A Brush with Singapore Art Society Exhibition" featuring selected artists for SG50 in January 2015, "NINE" art exhibition by Art Channel Gallery"

Given his rich experience in the arts, it's really a great opportunity to be able to view his paintings!

It's very enjoyable to look at his pieces. Not only did the mix of medias work out (very) well, his choice of warm colours often adds in vibrancy in the once conventional photographs. Of all the artist paintings that I've viewed before, Kevin's  one that I felt was most comforting. :)

For a feel, here are some of his works:

A fond lover of rainbow colours, my personal favourite is the one on Clarke Quay. Vibrant, fresh, and it truly reflects the hype at Clarke Quay--at night, where restaurants and bars are filled with people chatting with a glass of beer on hand. :D

In the midst of my viewing, I got to have a small talk with Kevin, who happened to be there. We talked about promoting arts within the country, and Kevin mentioned that he and his team are actively reaching out to promote this type of contemporary art. They also wish to gain more support from National Arts Council as well as the general public. Wishing Kevin and his team the best of luck, I hope that you could support his team too! :D

By the way, here's a photograph of me and Kevin! :D
